Ice God

There’s an old fridge running in my Trivandrum house which I use on the rare occasions I happen to be in the city. About three years ago what started as a drip from the top of the freezer compartment grew into a full blown formation. It resembled, to my shape-seeking eyes, a remarkably well-defined Ganesha.

To my god-fearing wife it was no less than a divine manifestation. One that would disappear, no doubt, if I switched the fridge into defrost. That’s what happened in the end, since the fridge had also to keep our food fresh along with any visiting visitations, however divine they may be.
